History
SRF 3 began as DRS 3, on 1 November 1983, at one minute past midnight. It arose partly as a response to the authorisation of private local radio stations in Switzerland and from the need for a station with music designed for younger listeners. The first night featured a live concert by Polo Hofer, from the Atlantis in Basel, and the first head was Peter Bühler, who presented the launch. In its first year it reached a 14% market share. In 2012 it was renamed SRF 3, and today it reaches more than 1.4 million listeners a day.
