History
Frisky was launched in 2001 by Faisal Sultan, a former AOL engineer who had joined the Shoutcast team in 1999 and had started streaming music for testing. Sultan says the name came from his DJ name in college. Around 2007 he joined forces with others and they began broadcasting in a programme format, as if it were a television station. In 2013 the radio station was relaunched as a subscription electronic music service, with a free ad-supported version.
