History
RMF FM began on 15 January 1990, in Kraków, and was the first private radio station in Poland. The founder, Stanisław Tyczyński, created a foundation for the project, and the first licence application was rejected; the second, presented as a relay of Fun Radio, was accepted. The first song broadcast was “Africa”, by Toto. It was first called Radio Małopolska FUN, became RMF in October 1990 and, in February 1994, obtained a national broadcasting licence. Since 2006 it has belonged to the Bauer group.
