History
Left Coast 70s is a channel of SomaFM, the independent San Francisco radio station, devoted to mellow album rock of the 1970s, with the motto “Yacht not required”. According to its own description, in the late 1970s and early 1980s rock artists began to make slower, more polished songs, a sound associated with Los Angeles that spread along the West Coast. SomaFM's founder, who chooses the music, grew up listening to KNX-FM in Los Angeles, a benchmark for this genre, and had wanted to create this channel for a long time.
